Swartzendruber Residence
Division House
Boulder, Colorado

Similar to the Davis Welsh Residence, this project is a complete interior renovation of a 1970's condominium in Boulder. A nearly identical existing unit as the Davis Welsh project, the approach to this project was also to reflect the lives of the owners.  The existing small, dark rooms were opened to each other and along with a new stair, allowed natural light down into the center of the house.  The space of the stair becomes a passage negotiating public from private space as well as light from dark.  A series of sliding and swinging louver panels can be adjusted to accommodate both visiting family and daylight.
