These are some photos of a project in south Boulder we have recently completed.  The project consisted of a second story addition and a main level renovation including a new entry, dining room and kitchen. 
The second story addition is a new master suite and office and is located on the far west side of the house.  The existing bedrooms remain on the east side and the renovated kitchen, dining room and entry create the "public" space where the children and parents come together as a family.  The new design integrates the east and west sides of the house and by introducing an upper floor, also begins a vertical dialogue.  The upper floor is open and loft-like and the space spills down into the main level and by doing so, enhances the engagement with the lower, walk-out basement.  The new work then becomes a weaving - horizontally of introverted spaces and vertically of extroverted spaces.
